Gabriela Australia 30th Anniversary

Gabriela Australia is a non-funded grassroots community organization whose members are all volunteers but continues to deliver essential culturally appropriate support, assistance and care to victim survivors of domestic and family violence. It is widely known in the migrant community as being in the forefront of helping women and children that are victim-survivors of family violence. The organisation also provides support and advocacy to migrant families experiencing marginalisation in the society. Its volunteers and advocates are working towards empowerment, human rights and cultural competency.

This year, we are celebrating our 30th Anniversary with a fundraising event on 16 May 2026 at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, 210 Lonsdale St, Melbourne VIC 3000. The event will highlight Gabriela Australia’s 30 years of community work and activism as a grassroots, non-funded organisation. Through songs, dances, cultural performances, and food, we will share stories of sisterhood, collective strength, and ongoing struggles.
